Welcome to the Adult Care Program of San Mateo Convalescent Hospital:
We welcome
you and your loved one to our home. We know you have many questions
of which we will do our best to provide you with answers.
We are a private, family-run 34 bed facility that has provided quality
care for the community since 1961. At San Mateo Convalescent we are
concerned for the total person, being ever mindful of the physical,
emotional, social, and spiritual needs of our residents. We all share
a philosophy of striving for excellence. We exist to assist individuals
in successful aging through love, compassion and activities that enhance
independence.
We offer Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living Care Level Rates, and 24/7 Hourly and Respite Care. This continuum of care
makes it possible for residents to remain in familiar surroundings
as their needs change, thus allowing them to comfortably age in place.
It also provides residents with consistent medical care and support
from skilled professionals who know them well. This feature, along
with an average 4.2 staffing ratio that far exceeds the 3.2 mandated
by the state, provides peace of mind for our residents and their family
members.
High nurse-to-resident ratio:
Our superior services are predicated on three basic
reasons: more staff, higher pay, and longer length of employment. The
average employee has worked at San Mateo Convalescent Hospital for
over 10 years. The total number of service years at our 2005 staff
recognition event was 404. This is an extraordinary statistic for an
industry notorious for its high staff turnover (less than 2 years of
service) and job dissatisfaction.
Staff:
Our staff is experienced, caring and unique. We take pride
in the deep sensitivity they so openly share. Their care provides you
with the warm and compassionate environment you want, along with safety
and 24 hour professional, responsive staffing that your resident deserves.
Ongoing education and the latest training techniques are offered weekly.
