SMCH has a wide variety of support services available to our residents and their families, including but not limited to:

Transition & Sociability:
Our team is here to help. We encourage socialization and relaxing with fellow residents, family, and friends. Personalized room decor is encouraged to provide a familiar atmosphere. Social services and staff are ready to assist in any way. On-going support and referral sources are available. Our workplace is someone else’s home where love and caring are openly shared.

Care Plan Meetings:
Staff from all departments will meet with family and resident (if able), within 2 weeks of admission and quarterly to discuss the residents care, progress, needs, answer questions and gather information from each other on caring for the resident. You will be informed of these meetings in advance.

Pet Therapy:
Our dog provides lots of love and companionship, while many love to relax with our fish, watch and listen to the birds in one of our aviaries or observe the antics of the outdoor squirrels. Residents form strong bonds with our live-in animal friends.

Family Council:
Families of our residents meet to discuss ways in which they can work together to develop programs to help improve the quality of life for all residents. Together they work to develop methods of recruiting volunteers and help run some programs, or hold fundraiser to purchase equipment they feel would help benefit the residents, improve quality, or provide an activity they may want for the facility. It is a meeting of your peers and can help you emotionally through the transition of placing the resident into a new environment. All family members are encouraged to attend. We listen to all suggestions and comments from the Family Council. Together we can do what we cannot do alone.
